[Spanish] Usage of perfect tense

1. Presente perfect

haber al presente + pasado participio

to describe an action that began in the past and continues up to the present
or an action that took place in the past but is connected with the present.

often used with these time expressions
hoy
hace un momento
esta semana
este mes
este año

2. Imperfecto perfecto

haber al imperfecto + pasado participio con préterito

to describe an action that was completed in the past before another action took place.

often used with these words
apenas
despues de que
luego que
en cuanto
así que
tan pronto como
ya que

Apenas había comido cuando llegaste a casa. (I had just eaten when you arrived at the house.)

3. Pretérito perfecto

haber al pretérito + pasado participio

mainly in literary style to indicate that the action or event had just ended.

Apenas hube llegado cuando me llamó. (I had just arrived when he called me.)
En cuanto hubo entrado, todos se leventaron. (As soon as he had enterd, everyone got up.)

4. Futuro perfecto

haber al futuro + pasado participio con subjuntivo al presente

To describe an action or event that will have been completed in the future.

often used with these expressions
para entonces
para esa hora

Cuando llegue a casa, yo habré comido. (When he arrives, I will have eaten.)
Tan pronto llegue María, habrémos ido a restaurante. (As soon as Maria arrives, we will have left for the restaurant.)
Lo habrá terminado? (I wonder if he has finished it. Can he have finished it?)
Habrán perdido las llaves (They have probably lost the keys. They must have lost the keys.)

5. Conditcional perfecto

haber al condicional + pasado participio con sbjuntivo al imperfecto

to describe an action or event that would have been completed in the past.

6. Infinitivo perfecto

una preposicion + haber al infinitivo + psado participio con pretérito

Por haber salido de la discoteca, no conocí a esa chica. (For having left the disco, I didn't meet that girl.)

7. Progresivo perfecto (gerundio)

habiendo + pasado participio con pretérito

Habiendo oído las noticias, me fui con mis amigos al bar. (Having heard these news, I left for the bar with my friends.)
Habiendo viajado en europa, aprendí muchos idiomas. (Having traveled in Europe, I learnt a lot of languages.)
